I grew up living by the coast in Gibraltar, Cornwall, Scotland and Malta. This is probably responsible for my love of the changing light, colour, weather and mood in the landscape. Much of my work is landscape and my concerns are the subtle/dramatic changes in the light, colours and mood as the day/seasons progress.

One strand of current work concerns a particular stretch of the Norfolk coast throughout the year – tide, light and colour can change dramatically in the course of a few minutes and it is necessary to work fast to respond. Another strand concerns local woods and tangled undergrowth through the seasons.

The Dying of the Day is a digital image, part of a series, created in response to some local allotments that are becoming neglected and overgrown – there is a wonderful explosion of growth as nature takes over – sadly, because they are neglected, their time is limited and no doubt they will be built on in the near future.

My digital images are NOT reproductions but are created within the computer, using its possibilities and abilities in exactly the same way as charcoal, paint or any other traditional medium.
