The Poetry of David Lyne-Gordon...I'LL ALWAYS FEEL THE SAME
You were to me a faithful friend,
Who I'd have given my blood to defend,
Now you've brought love to an end,
But, I'll always feel the same.
You were a lighthouse in gloomy lands,
We laughed, played and often held hands,
And finally before God exchanged our bands,
But, I'll always feel the same.
Of life's problems we had a taste,
We built our house with paint and paste.
Developing our love, but not in haste,
But, I'll always feel the same.
Then that awful bell, it told,
Of your departure from the fold.
And I have nobody left to hold,
But, I'll always feel the same.
Into another's arms you went,
Lying from the heart for his intent,
Taking his cash to pay rent,
But, I'll always feel the same.
How ever long I must wait,
Whatever destiny holds in my fate,
Whenever you come back through that gate,
I'll always feel the same.
