The Poetry of David Lyne-Gordon...MEMORY OR REALITY
(23.9.1981)
Can it be true?
That I'll never see you,
Again around at my house?
It's all very sad, for I am so mad,
About you, you little mouse.
I keep thinking maybe,
You don't fancy me,
And will not tell outright.
If that is the case,
Then I'll give up the chase,
And admit that I've lost the fight.
If the above's not true,
Then give me a clue,
As to your emotional stance.
If the answer is yes,
Then I'll stop being a pest,
And break this longing trance.
Oh Beverley dear,
It is perfectly clear,
I'd like you to want me to love you.
And you're young and I'm old,
And my feet are a bit cold,
So tell me, could we make it, we two?
These poems are frank,
But then it's no prank,
To set up an adventurous affair.
If it fails I'd be downhearted,
If it doesn't I'll be glad to get started,
Your answer therefore, would only be fair.
