The Poetry of Martin Fairclough...
Data Dream
On tracks of pure copper
Across junctions made of gold
Ride patterns of electrons,
Data going where foretold.
In crouching chips of silicon
They seep through hidden gates,
Never knowing nor suspecting,
Sifting gently to their fates.
Some data dies and disappears,
Along on the copper road
While more is born to travel on
As written in the code.
Timers tick and urge them on
-There is no time to pause-
With every beat they must go on
It's in the data laws.
Eventually they reach the screen,
The journey now completed.
The Operator, having read,
Then has them all deleted.
The other night I had a dream,
Never has my fear been greater,
For I beheld the Great Design
From the point of view of data....
