The Poetry of David W Hoffman...
Trust I
What truth to be found in the Egyptian plight ?
Warriors true to king on wind swept sand.
Wielders of death clash,
Delivering the song their king demands.
I can not claim witness to this sight.
I can not claim the sound of the Reapers glee.
I can not claim feeling wet red sand in my face.
Tellers of the past, knowledge given.
I can only claim truth in sight as old as I.
A tree I did see jump into the ever' changing sky.
Fellowship of mine died at seventeen.
Closed casket for he had to remain unseen.
I can claim sight as a child splashing in the stream.
I can claim hearing the wind in the trees.
I can claim feeling snowflakes kissing my face.
Experience of my own, trusting always.
Tellers of the past I ask of thee,
Do these words you utter speak true to me ?
I hear not the answer of my plea,
So trust I must.
