The Poetry of David W Hoffman...
DRAGON SONG
Words of yours claim me to beast,
Words of yours claim me to fiend.
Words few are these to the many.
Who are you to claim me so?
My years ten fold beyond yours.
My sight wise beyond yours
Still, you call me terror.
You call me fear.
Reap not I my own,
Chain not I my own.
Terrorize not I my own.
Who are you to claim me so?
Dragons Pride I have.
Amongst my brethren songs of the gods I sing.
Dance we do, celebrating our love.
Ignorance is your claim; you know not what we are.
You spark words against me from your own flames.
Witness much I have the cruelty you wield.
You care not of the spring, summer and fall.
Winter your only time of reprieve.
Nature our charge, Guard it well we will.
Remember this you must.
Beast and fiend we are not.
Protector of life eternal we are!
Words of these forget not.
Hatred for you we hold not.
Despise in you the careless stance,
Forgotten you your youth, your past.
Call me Dragon. Call me guardian.
Call me not Evil, Beast or Slayer.
Protect you from your own sometimes I must do.
Wisdom not yours for words untrue.
