First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at my site. I now have another site for you to browse Mamie's Art Let me tell you a bit about myself... I have always had this talent. The 'artsy craftsy' sort of thing, from as long as I can remember. In grade school I recall my girl friend and I getting together after class and doing little 8 x 10 paintings, using old greeting cards, magazines etc. for inspiration. The following years were full of sketching, and creating. I majored in art during high school. I even won a weeks scholarship to the Art Museum in Chicago, and another week to the Robert Allerton House in Monticello, Illinois. The latter being my first time away from home. After high school, I married and had two fine boys. In the late 1970's, once the boys were older, I gathered some materials and signed on at Fedelle's Art Studio. I took classes to learn pastels and portraiture. That was the beginning of my more serious work. I moved to Texas in the early part of 1989. After several years of acclimatizing to country style living on a small farm, raising emu, rhea and a pair of ostrich, I finally found the Rainbow Art League of Bridge City. I joined this happy group of artists and started going to weekly gatherings to paint and learn from the teacher of the month. After the first year I was elected their president, and held the title for almost 3 years. The league participated in a volunteered group painting for the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce, to hang in the Bridge City Historical Museum. I also became a member of the Texas Artist Museum of Port Arthur, and attended weekly sessions there. During these years I entered my work in several shows. I have won many blue ribbons on these entries and also the Best of Show, for my dads portrait at the Gulf Coast National Art Show. In 1997 I moved to South Carolina. I met my fiance, Ron, over the internet in 1998. I came to England in 1999. Ron is also a fine artist and you can see his work at Ron's Art We were married July 13, 2002 So now sit back and have a look 'round at...
